To get to Larry Burkett's portion of the website, look for the
Money section on crosswalk.com
and click on Crown Financial Ministries. Once there, you'll see many resources
about money management from a Christian perspective.
Let's look at the link to his radio broadcasts under
the Radio section. You'll see a list of the past
several
weeks of radio broadcasts - the same ones that are heard each day on radio stations around the
world.
But the advantage of having this information on the
Internet is you can listen to the broadcasts anytime, and select
those of interest to you. You can search the broadcasts, for
instance, for topics like wills, credit cards, home-buying, and so on.
When you find an audio clip of interest, you can play
it right on your computer. You need to have some kind of speakers
on your computer to hear it, and possibly even special software
installed (available for free). Mr. Burkett's
broadcast uses RealPlayer, a popular audio format which you may already have on your computer.
To find out if you can listen to it, click on a link
in the Radio section that interests you.
On the day I tried this, I listened to a guest speaker, Tony Evans, talk
about Christian Giving.
When you click an audio link, the RealPlayer will
start-up if you have it installed. If it doesn't start, you can download RealPlayer
for free from www.real.com.
(If you notice that you don't have RealPlayer installed and you're
feeling adventurous, go ahead and install it now. It's the same
software I use in these workshops for my audio and video clips. Be
sure to choose the "free" version to try it out.
You can also buy a little better version for $20-30, but the free
version will be just fine. You'll find instructions to download and
install the software on the www.real.com
website.)
If you're looking for a large collection of your
favorite radio and TV programs on the Internet, go to lightsource.com.
You can listen to shows like Focus on the Family with James Dobson or
Gateway to
Joy with Elizabeth Elliot, or you can watch television programs like
Hour of Power with Robert Schuller
or InTouch with Charles Stanley.
You'll soon see how the Internet is changing the way we think about
and use radio and TV, too.
But before you get too caught up in all the excitement
of audio and video on the Internet, let's take a look on the next page at
another large Christian portal and learn how to find a ministry quickly.
