In 1998 I created a new website to be a ministry in
itself, and also to be a model for others of how an Internet ministry
could work.
It's called The Ranch: A Place of Healing and
Restoration.
My intent was to create an inviting atmosphere that
would draw both believers and non-believers into a closer
relationship with God. In fact, even though there is no
"real" ranch, many people send me notes after visiting The
Ranch to say they had a deeply moving experience similar to one they
might have at a real retreat center!
Go to theranch.org
to take a look at The Ranch home page. (Remember, to get
back to this window, use your BACK and FORWARD buttons in
your browser.)
Go to the section marked "Read a Story"
to see testimonies of people living today who have been touched by the
Living God. If you have a few minutes, I hope you'll read some of
the stories, including my own (you'll get a feel for how God uses
the Internet plus a little more insight into your workshop leader at the
same time!) To go straight to the testimonies, go to theranch.org/stories/testimonies.htm.
Adding text to a website is the easiest and most
popular way to communicate a message on the Internet. Most
search engines index all the words in text documents so someone searching for
topics like homosexuality, loneliness, suicide, and so on, will pull up
a variety of websites, including yours or mine. Then we'll be able
to point them to God's perspective on the topic for which they're
searching.
Text is just one way to communicate, though.
Let's take a look at audio and video.
