One of the most intriguing aspects of Internet
technology to me is doing video broadcasting.
Without having to be a big name or get on network or
cable TV, I'm able to send out a live video broadcast over the Internet from
my own living room.
Using the same RealPlayer software that you
listen to music with, you can also take a look at one of the video
messages I've created. Go to the "Hear a Message"
section of theranch.org.
Here's the quick link: theranch.org/messages/live/1999/0815/notes.htm.
To start the video, press the play button on the VCR-like
controls. Then scroll up and down the page to see the message
outline.
I'll share in Section 3 how I create these
videos. But suffice it to say, if you can get your message onto an
audio cassette or video tape, you're well on your way to making
it available to thousands over the Internet.
As an aside, I've gotten a license from ASCAP
to perform other people's music on my website, something you'll want to
do if you plan to use church worship services with music on the
Internet. For a relatively small annual fee, this helps compensate
the artists for the use of their music in a broadcast medium, without
having to get the rights to each individual song. You can find out
more at ascap.com.
We'll take a look at a chat room next.
