One way we follow-up with people after our broadcasts
is to use a chat room on our website.
I've added a simple chat room that doesn't require any
special login or passwords, just a simple screen that asks for a
nickname by the person who wants to chat.
Take a look at the chat room at The Ranch on
the "Talk to Someone" section. Here's the direct
link: theranch.org/talk/javachat.htm.
(Give the chat room a little time to load, then enter your
nickname. If no one else is in the chat room, you can still test
it by typing a few words in the space at the bottom of the chat
area, then press Enter to see them displayed above. As each person
enters information, it displays on the screen in the order they entered
it.)
In this way, we actually talk at length with people in
"real-time" and pray with them about their need before
they leave. We have the ability to chat privately with each person
who comes in, or with a whole group at once.
In addition to chat, we offer an email contact
from every page of our website so people can always contact someone with
their needs. If you plan to put up your email address, expect
people to use it! It's not uncommon for me to have 30-40 emails in
my mailbox awaiting responses at any given time from people I've never
met, but who are desiring prayer or biblical wisdom.
There's plenty of opportunity on the Internet
for those who want to minister. (And if you need prayer for
something yourself, feel free to write me at pokey@theranch.org!)
Anytime you want to track how your website is being
used, there are statistics galore. Take a look at some of
the statistics available on my website from the past year and you'll see
what I mean: theranch.org/stats.
You can take a look around the rest of The Ranch
later, but for now, let's look at several other ministries to see
how they're using the Internet.
